Why Chattanooga, Tennessee

Why did I base my books in Chattanooga, Tennessee? Well, if being one of the most beautiful cities in the Southeast isn’t enough, I wanted to highlight the changes the city has been making. If you take a drive anywhere in Chattanooga you will see new construction everywhere. The city is in a vibrant boom and understandably so. Chattanooga offers a vast array of outdoor activities, entertainment, and dining experiences. It’s location on the Tennessee/Georgia line makes it a central location for anywhere else you may want to visit.
The city planners have started to refocus their efforts on building a tourist destination and have started on a large project called The Bend that is set to revitalize the waterfront. A new baseball stadium, and an unending amount of outdoor activities have drawn tourists year round. Chattanooga has truly become a southeastern gem. I take my family there on trips to the Tennessee Aquarium and mountain biking on Signal Mountain and Lookout Mountain a few times a year. The city is rich with history and showcases it proudly.
If all of that isn’t enough, it’s also where I grew up. My memories of the place from my childhood are the main reason for my writing there. My parents moved us to Southern California when I was in elementary school, but I came back to Tennessee to attend college and settled not far from my alma mater.
You will find I’ve exercised a bit of literary creativity in my descriptions of Chattanooga to fit my vision. I hope you will find the world Detective Greer lives in to be as vibrant and mysterious as I do.
Chattanooga is a wonderful travel destination and I hope you will find a time to visit to see its mountains, bridges, and waterways.
I hope you enjoy this book as much as I’ve enjoyed I’ve writing it. It’s will certainly not be the last.
Sincerely,
Grant Winchester
